Der Track “Got to Have Love” vom neuen Pulp Album nach 24-jähriger Schaffenspause ist eine pulsierende, lebensbejahende Tanz-Hymne. Wenn die anderen Songs von More, das am 6. Juni erscheinen wird, nur halb so geil werden, haben wir es wohl mit dem Album des Jahres zu tun!

There are a lot of things I wanna say about Ok Go preemptively like how they’re legit internet legends, talented creatives, and have reached recognition far beyond what I will ever attain but I also wanna ask:

Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate these insanely layered productions in a world that’s rapidly losing interest in the music video format, and I deeply respect the craft. But isn’t it just a gimmick at this point? Then again, when they put something out without the shenanigans, it doesn’t get received at all. They’ve pitched themselves into a corner, don’t you think?

I doubt they feel this as much of a conundrum as I do. Ultimately, I think I’m just happy they exist. But if you’ve been trying to break in for 20 years while relying on these gimmicks, at what point does it become a net negative?

I guess I just wish all this work would serve better music somehow.

Die fliegenden Schweine vom letzten Album Flight b741 legten eine Crashlandung in der australischen Steppe ein und nun machen die Boys von King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard Big Band Blues Rock. Bereits im letzten Jahr erschien mit dem Track “Phantom Island” eine orchestrale Neuerscheinung, die die genremäßige Ausrichtung des neuen Albums vorgab, das nun mit gleichem Namen am 13. Juni erscheinen wird. In Europa wird es auch einige Konzerte mit Live-Orchester geben. Ich glaube, das werd ich mir geben müssen. Auf Reddit findet gerade ebenfalls ein AMA statt, in dem Bandleader Stu Mackenzie die Rückkehr von Livestreams bestätigte, über die ich schon zuvor begeistert hier schrieb.
