Das Archipelago Cinema ist ein in einer thailändischen Lagune gelegenes, schwimmendes Kino, das seine Öffnung jetzt beim Films On The Rocks Filmfestival feierte. Designt wurde es vom deutschen Architekten Ole Scheeren. Ziemlich coole Idee, die Sitzsäcke sehen auch verdammt bequem aus. Aber ‘Der weiße Hai’ würde ich da jetzt nicht unbedingt gucken wollen, sonst würde die Rückfahrt zum Land zur Tortur werden.

Tolles Poster, aber sie wären auch dumm gewesen, wenn sie nicht diese Schiene gefahren wären. Hier der Trailer.

Huzzah! Schöpfer Brian Lee O’Malley und OniPress haben angekündigt, dass Scott Pilgrim in wunderschönen, großen Hardcovern (6×9 inches) neu veröffentlicht wird – iN FARBE, denn Nathan Fairbairn wird den gesamten Comic colorieren. Fantastische Neuigkeiten, denn die ersten paar colorierten Seiten in Band 4 fand ich toll und ich kann nur hoffen, dass Nathan seinen Job ähnlich großartig machen wird wie damals O’Malley. Angesichts der ersten online veröffentlichten Bilder mache ich mir da aber keine Sorgen:

CBR: Overall, after working on this with Nathan, do you think working in color is going to become a regular part of your comics moving forward, or will you stick to black and white for most things?

I think it’ll vary from project to project. The process of coloring can be incredibly expensive, and it wouldn’t have even been an option at the start of “Scott Pilgrim.” But it feels good as a project with a collaborator. I don’t think I’d ever want to color my own comics. It’s a lot of work. But Nathan’s been great, and I’d love to work with him on future stuff.

Im August kommt der erste Band, der zweite ist für den Oktober geplant. Das ist ein Grund zu feiern. Dazu habe ich auch etwas passendes:

Die 80er waren kein schlechtes Jahrzehnt für Fans von Komödien. Wisst ihr noch, wie lustig es war, als Marty fast mit seiner Mutter schlief? Nein, Moment, das ist creepy. Hier: Oder wie unglaublich komisch Bill Murrays sarkastischer Peter Venkman in Ghostbusters war? Oder wie amüsant wir es fanden, als Danny DeVito und Arnold Schwarzenegger Zwillinge im Film ‘Twins’ spielten….? Es ist lustig, weil, passt auf, es ist echt, also…es ist lustig, weil Arnold Schwarzenegger groß und, passt auf, das haltet ihr nicht aus, Danny DeVito sehr klein ist! Versteht ihr? Super lustig, oder?

Irgendwer in Hollywood hat den Film wohl wieder gesehen und dachte: “Hey, die leben doch beide noch! Und der erste Film machte ein Haufen Kohle. Hmmmmm…” Und jetzt kriegen wir ein Sequel namens ‘Triplets’, in dem Schwarzenegger und DeVito herausfinden, dass sie eigentlich Drillinge sind und ihr verlorener Bruder Eddie Murphy ist. Versteht ihr? Es ist lustig, weil er schwarz ist!

Es ist eine glorreiche Woche für extravagante, die Tiefsee erkundende, Millionäre. Nach James Camerons Tauchgang im Marianengraben hat nun JEff Bezos, Chef von Amazon, die Rakete auf dem Meeresboden ausfindig gemacht, die Apollo 11 am 16. Juli 1969 ins Weltall beförderte. Sie soll wahrscheinlich gehoben werden, gehört jedoch so oder so der NASA. Dass diese, sofern die Verfassung der Raketen es noch mitmacht, ins Smithsonian kommen werden, gilt als ziemlich wahrscheinlich. So mag ich mir meine Millionäre. Hier Bezos Blogeintrag:

Millions of people were inspired by the Apollo Program. I was five years old when I watched Apollo 11 unfold on television, and without any doubt it was a big contributor to my passions for science, engineering, and exploration. A year or so ago, I started to wonder, with the right team of undersea pros, could we find and potentially recover the F-1 engines that started mankind’s mission to the moon?

I’m excited to report that, using state-of-the-art deep sea sonar, the team has found the Apollo 11 engines lying 14,000 feet below the surface, and we’re making plans to attempt to raise one or more of them from the ocean floor. We don’t know yet what condition these engines might be in – they hit the ocean at high velocity and have been in salt water for more than 40 years. On the other hand, they’re made of tough stuff, so we’ll see.

Though they’ve been on the ocean floor for a long time, the engines remain the property of NASA. If we are able to recover one of these F-1 engines that started mankind on its first journey to another heavenly body, I imagine that NASA would decide to make it available to the Smithsonian for all to see. If we’re able to raise more than one engine, I’ve asked NASA if they would consider making it available to the excellent Museum of Flight here in Seattle. (For clarity, I’ll point out that no public funding will be used to attempt to raise the engines, as it’s being undertaken privately.)

NASA is one of the few institutions I know that can inspire five-year-olds. It sure inspired me, and with this endeavor, maybe we can inspire a few more youth to invent and explore.

OH MY FUCKING GOD YES! I’M IN TEARS!!!!!! YEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSS!!!!

Hier der erste Trailer zu ‘Safety Not Guaranteed’, einem Film, der auf einem alten Zeitreise-Zeitungsannonce beruht. Sie ist lustig und macht seit ich online bin seine Runden durch das Netz. War also nur eine Frage der Zeit, bis jemand eine Hintergrundgeschichte dafür erfinden würde. Drehbuchautor Derek Connolly hat das getan und bekam doch glatt dafür den Screenwriting Award vom Sundance Filmfestival, auf dem der Film seine Premiere feierte und zahllose, grandiose Kritiken bekam. Die Schauspieler kennt man als normaler, deutscher Kinogänger jetzt nicht, aber Mark Duplass (“The League”), Aubrey Plaza (“Parks & Recreation”) und Jake Johnson (“New Girl”) sind für Serienfans keine Unbekannten. Schaut super aus, ich mag solche Geschichten über gebrochene Männer, die von jungen Frauen gerettet werden. Hoffen wir mal, dass der Film sich nicht dem Hollywoodtrend der zweideutigen Enden anschließt.
