Balsam für die Seele aller vergraulter Walking Dead Fans: Schauspieler Laurie Holden fand Andreas Storyline im Finale der dritten Staffel von The Walking Dead auch völlig beschissen. Auch für mich starb die Serienadaptation in dieser schrecklichsten aller Folgen, wie man in meiner Review von damals nachlesen kann.

Der damalige Showrunner Glen Mazzara hat die Serie dermaßen versaut, dass heute Rick mit Michonne zusammenlebt. They make it work, wie man im Englischen sagt, aber auch der heutige Showrunner Scott Gimple weiß, dass dies nicht mehr viel mit der eigentlichen Comic-Vorlage zu tun hat. Holden würde mir wohl zustimmen:

And Holden described the direction the TV show took as “complete and utter nonsense”. “I think the departure from book Andrea to the screen was a mistake,” she said, speaking at a fan convention. “I mean, it’s not like I couldn’t pull it off. I think the whole stuff that they wrote about Andrea and the Governor was complete and utter nonsense. I did the best that I could to tell that narrative and to justify it where Andrea kept her heart. I love Scott Gimple for giving me a gorgeous death with redemption so that you understood, and she wasn’t a victim – she died on her own terms. But I think that there was so much beautiful narrative that was lost, and that she should have been there for a long time and been the leader that [Robert] Kirkman created in the comic book.” (via)

Zuvor hatte sich Holden bereits einmal zum Thema geäußert. Eigentlich hatte sie eine Zuversicherung, dass Andrea bis zum Ende mitspielen würde (bzw. zumindest über acht Staffeln). Am Tag vor dem Dreh erhielt sie jedoch spät nachts den Anruf, der alles ändern sollte. Das unterstreicht für mich nur die Unüberlegtheit dieses gravierenden Fehlers.
