So, das war dann die diesjährige Emmy-Verleihung. Die Veranstaltung selbst war ganz okay, Seth Meyers ist eben nur ganz nett und er macht artig ein paar Witze,  blieb ansonsten brav. Das Highlight der Show war definitiv Weird Al, der sich Lyrics für die Theme Songs eingier Shows ausdachte und George R.R. Martin eine Schreibmaschine in die Hand drückte. Wobei ihm Bryan Cranstons Kussattacke auf JLD Konkurrenz machte – dieser Schnurrbart ist von dieser Welt! Billy Crystals emotionaler Abschied von Robin Williams war auch sehr schön, dezent und persönlich.

In Sachen Comedy ist das eine einzige Blamage für die Academy. Modern Family so oft auszuzeichnen, dazu z.B. in der Regie-Kategorie, ist für mich eine absolute Blamage.

Mit der Ausnahme von Julianne Margulies und Cary Joji Fukunaga, die beide höchst verdient gewinnen, schnappt sich Breaking Bads Abschied alle Awards im Drama – ebenfalls höchst verdient, auch wenn Aaron Paul trotz natürlich überzeugender Arbeit seinen dritten Emmy mit Dean Norris hätte teilen müssen. Die letzte Staffel hing in großen Teilen von Hank ab und Dean Norris hat für seine Arbeit in all den Jahren nicht einmal eine Nominierung erhalten. Eine Schande.

Fargo gewinnt den Preis für die beste/r Miniserie/Film, kann jedoch kaum punkten. Denn Sherlock wurde anscheinend inzwischen von der Academy gesehen und bekommt nun seine Awards, u.a. einen für Steven bloody Moffat, was ich gar nicht abkann und Cumberbatch war in Staffel 3 nicht besser als die schauspielerische Gewalt eines Billy Bob Thornton.

Große Verlierer des Abends sind HBO und Netflix. Orange is the New Black und House of Cards gehen bis auf einen Preis für Uzo Aduba und fürs Casting leer aus. HBO wird sich wohl in den Hintern beißen, dass man True Detective nicht in die Miniseries-Kategorie gesteckt hat – wo die Serie auch hingehört. Da hatte man wohl zu großes Selbstvertrauen.

Persönlich freut mich natürlich die Auszeichnung für Louis C.K.s “So Did The Fat Lady”, die Episode des Jahres. Ärgern tut mich besonders der Emmy für Jim Parsons. Es liegt nicht an Parsons, der einen okayen Job macht und sich scheinbar sogar für den Gewinn entschuldigte, sondern an der Serie selbst.
