Mondo verkäuft heute Rich Kellys Poster zu meinem Lieblingsfilm des letzten Jahres. Hol ich mir.
This latest offering from the Coen brothers really struck a chord with me. As a fan of the 60’s folk scene from an early age, the direct result of my dad taking us to see Dylan every summer growing up, I was thrilled to take on this project. The story, the characters, the humor, the music, everything came together to form such a perfect narrative. Using Llewyn’s inability to do anything to actually help himself in the bigger picture as a startin…g point, I have our titular character walking along in Greenwich Village against the grain, the only one walking in that direction. Surrounding him are the hauntings of his past as well as the hapless nods to his future. A woman with a small child, a man with a briefcase (a representation of the those who just “exist” to Llewyn), a couple embracing behind him, and to his right, a Merchant Marine office. From that old Irish blessing “..May the sun shine warm upon your face..” we have the literal opposite in this scenario, Llewyn’s back turned to the sun. And of course it wouldn’t be complete without a small nod to the Gorfein’s cat.
