Heute läuft ‘Chronicle’ in den USA an und die Reviews überschlagen sich. Komplett neu und frisch wäre der Film, er würde zeigen, wie Teenager wirklich mit Superkräften umgehen würden. Auf Umhänge wird geschissen. Mich freut das, immerhin habe ich den Film hier von Anfang an verfolgt und war stets davon gehypt. Ich bereue es jedoch etwas diesen teaser gesehen zu haben, weil er wahrscheinlich 90% des Films und die besten Actionszenen zeigt. Deshalb Achtung!

Im Gegensatz zu dem VHS-Cover ist dieses Blu-Ray Cover jedoch echt. Seit wenigen Tagen ist Drive als Blu-Ray in den USA erhältlich; sollte also jemand das Bedürfnis haben, das etwas langweilige Standardposter zu ersetzen, kann ein ganzes Set mit dem Motiv hier herunterladen. …im Rahmen einer Viral Marketing Kampagne für den neuen Film ‘Chronicle‘. Sorry, euch da so zu enttäuschen, Leute. Ist aber trotzdem ein interessantes Video und eine verdammt gute Idee. Der Film läuft morgen in den USA an und hat ein atemberaubedes Fresh Rating von 85% auf Rotten Tomatoes. Okay, vielleicht nicht atemberaubend, aber ich hatte das Gefühl, dass der Film vielleicht ein Schuss in den Ofen sein könnte. Bei uns geht’s am 19. April los.

Unglaublich effektives Viral-Poster zum neuen Film ‘Rampart’ mit Woody Harrelson als korrupter und saufender Cop, der gerne zum Knüppel greift. Besonders seit der Occupy-Bewegung ziemlich effektiv. Hier der Regisseur Oren Moverman (‘The Messenger’) zum Poster selbst:

The poster was Lawrence Inglee’s idea. He’s one of the producers of Rampart and he was searching for an image that would be thought-provoking and challenging, not an indictment of a cop but rather a communal approach to the idea of policing, the idea that maybe when cops do bad things it’s more of a reflection of society and what it is willing to tolerate rather than the fault of one bad apple or an institutional problem. If they work for us, could it be they ARE us?

The movie is about Dave Brown, just one cop doing bad things to bad people and thinking he is good. It’s a humanistic portrayal of something we would think of as evil, but it does ask the question of what circumstances lead a guy to behave the way he does from a position of power over people who are poor or are minorities, even over criminal elements. One of the many questions the film asks is: Whose desires and fantasy of power is Dave Brown living out? Is it him, or us, the ones he works for and the ones who look the other way most of the time.

I hope the takeaway is the idea that cops are human and their behavior is human, good and bad, and that society needs to look itself in the mirror; cops are public servants, they will serve the public’s demands. Question is, what do we demand of them? What kind of society have we given them to police?

Neben Harrelson werden noch Robin Wright, Sigourney Weaver, Ice Cube, Ben Foster, Ned Beatty, Steve Buscemi, Cynthia Nixon und Anne Heche in Nebenrollen zu sehen sein. Der Trailer gefällt mir auch verdammt gut:

Motherfucking Space-Nazis from the Dark Side of the Moon! Holy Shit – nach gefühlt drölf Milliarden Jahren Produktion ist ‘Iron Sky’ endlich fertig und wird auf der Berlinale seine Premiere feiern. Unglaublich, dass ich diesen Tag noch erleben werde. Und jetzt mal ehrlich, das schaut verdammt gut aus für das, was wahrscheinlich auf einer Studentenparty nachts um 2 im Stracksuff als “Stell Dir ma vor wie krass das wäre”-Idee entstanden ist und dann von Fans finanziert wurde.

Liam Neeson war ja schon immer ein ziemlich cooler Typ, aber seit Taken (96 Hours) ist er wirklich der Motherfucker Hollywoods, der alles klein haut, was ihm in den Weg kommt. In ‘The Grey’ werden das fiese Wölfe sein, die ihn und eine Gruppe von Arbeitern nach einem Flugzeugabsturz in Alaska verfolgen und fressen wollen. Der neue Red-Band Trailer zeigt wesentlich mehr als der erste, sehr schöne Trailer und gibt uns ein gutes Bild von dem Ausmaß von Gewaltdarstellung und Intensität. Finde ich ziemlich gut, kann etwas werden. Burnie Burns sah ihn auf dem ButtNumbaThon und fand im Rooster Teeth Podcast, dass es der beste Film des “Festivals” war und man eigentlich keine Trailer schauen sollte. Deshalb: Anschauen ohne Gewähr.

Edgar Wright und Simon Pegg haben per Twitter obiges Photo veröffentlicht und es zeigt, dass die beiden momentan wohl in der Brainstormingphase zu dem letzten Teil der ‘Blood And Ice Cream’-Trilogie (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) sind. Ich wette ja, dass Nick Frost das Photo geschossen hat. Ick freu mir!

Wie schon angekündigt, kann es auch weniger als 10 geben, wenn der 10. als nicht würdig angesehen wird oder die Votings so abgeschlagen sind oder warum auch immer. Die Academy macht was sie will und das sieht man hier bestens. Ich habe ‘Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close’ nicht gesehen, aber wenn man nach den Reviews geht, sollte dieser Film da nicht stehen. Und keine Nod für Harry Potter? Ich meine, come on! Es war ein weitaus größeres Unterfangen als Herr der Ringe und der bekam immerhin auch seine Ehrenoscars. Ansonsten wird wohl ‘Hugo’ oder ‘The Artist’ gewinnen und beide wären wohl berechtigte Gewinner. Dennoch fehlen hier Drive, Shame, Harry Potter oder The Ides of March.

Brad Pitt fand ich auch toll und Demian Bichir sieht im Trailer zu A better Life auch nett aus, aber Ryan Gosling hat dieses Jahr einfach geglüht! Schade. Der Oscar wird an Clooney gehen – berechtigterweise, wenn man den Kritikern Glauben schenken darf. Dass Michael Shannon wieder übersehen wird, ist auch verächtlich. Der Blick Shannons alleine hätte zwei Oscars verdient!

Ich wäre noch ganz zufrieden mit Kung Fu Panda 2, einem der besten Sequels im Animationsgenre neben der Toy Story-Serie. Hat die Charaktere und Mythologie wirklich weiter gebracht, war dazu wirklich traurig und berührend.

Mit Abstand. Aber wer weiß. Hugo ist 11 Mal nominiert, vielleicht gibt es dann den berühmten Oscareffekt und Hugo schnappt sich alle Nebenkategorien.

Ich liebe Kristen Wiig und Bridesmaids war überaus lustig und unterhaltend, aber da gab es einfach zu viele andere, die da besser bedient gewesen wären.

Dazu kommt, dass Melancholia keine einzige Nominierung bekam. Sorry, aber man kann den Film auch abseits von von Triers Kommentaren mal objektiv bewerten. Wenigstens Kirsten Dunst hätte nominiert werden, wenn nicht sogar gewinnen müssen. Dazu keine Nominierung für 50/50 – das wäre ja noch irgendwo, aber dafür Bridesmaids…I mean, really? Super 8 war kein Oscarfilm, aber ein paar Nominierungen im technischen Bereich hätte er durchaus haben dürfen. Michael Giacchinos Score für Super 8 war sehr bewegend und hätte eine Nominierung verdient, ebenso Elle Fannings Performance, die weitaus besser ist als das, was man da unter Supporting Actresses findet. Für Martha Marcy May Marlene und We Need to Talk About Kevin gibt es auch nichts. Take Shelter ebenso. Schade, alles sehr schade. Den Sternen sei Dank, dass die Qualität eines Films nicht anhand der Oscarnomierungen gemessen wird, sonst wäre Transformers 3 besser als alle gerade genannten Filme. Ernsthaft, Fuck the Oscars, lang leben die BAFTAs.

Würde ich zwar nur bedingt zustimmen, denn es gibt auch sehr schöne 3D Filme, aber natürlich bei manchen Filmen völlig zutreffend. Viktor Hertz ist verantwortlich für die schöne Illustration, die ich bei CMYBacon, der sich gerne vorstellt, dass da Studiochefs beisammen sitzen und sagen: “Well, the movie sucks. There’s no doubt about it. But if we make it 3D, people might not notice!” True Story.

Sehr schöner Fanfilm zur Hintergrundgeschichte der eigentlichen Love-Story, wenn es nach mir geht, in den ‘Hunger Games’ Büchern. Die Charaktere werden erst ab dem zweiten Buch relevant und Spoiler sind jetzt auch nicht zu erwarten, aber man muss das hier auch nicht sehen. Totaler Fanservice. Dagegen aber sollte man sich dieses Video von den gleichen Leuten anschauen, das die Hunger Games zeigt, wie sie hoffentlich im Film zu sehen sein werden. Ebenso diese Szene aus den Büchern, aber Achtung: großer Spoiler. Zu dem Kinofilm gibt es jetzt auch ein letztes Poster vor Kinostart im März.

Finde ich jetzt ehrlich gesagt genau so schlecht wie das erste. Dazu schrieb ich damals:

Ich glaube einfach, dass das Konzept und seine Thematik einem breitem Publikum nicht bewusst (oder nicht detailliert genug) ist. Wieso nicht einfach die Kontroverse, dass Kinder Kinder umbringen, auf dem Poster thematisieren? Ein Close-Up eines Karrieretributen, der gerade ein Opfer umbringt. Bäm. Das fände auch das Internet toll; und nicht nur die Fans, die sowieso an Bord sind.

Das gleiche Problem haben auch die Charakter Poster. Tja, was soll man dazu noch sagen. Wieso man das ironische “May the odds be ever in your favour” Buchzitat nicht benutzt, ist mir unschlüssig. Weiterhin dieser Close-Up, der eine total langweilige, neutrale Ausstrahlung statt wohl gehoffter Intensität und dazu noch viel zu sauber aussieht. Das Spiel geht immerhin über 2 Wochen in denen mangelnde Hygiene, Blut, ständiges Rennen und ein konstanter Aufenthalt in der Wildnis doch eine andere – nämlich wie im Buch eine animalische – Katniss produzieren würde. Naja, der Film kann ja trotzdem noch gut werden. Hatte bei X-Men: First Class ja auch geklappt.

Werden wieder binnen 2 Minuten ausverkauft sein und dann bei eBay für Sammlerpreise verkauft werden. Schade, die finde ich wirklich, wirklich nett.

“Ryan almost looks like something out of Duran Duran here. Possibly the most ‘80s of our posters – even though, of course, it’s not set in that era. For me, it’s got a Francis Ford Coppola vibe, a Brian De Palma thing going on with the music and some of the clothes. As for the quote at the top, what happens is we’re normally given a selection of stuff and we pull out what we think works from a market point of view, and that one just seemed like a great quote to run with. So powerful – and something we 100 percent agreed with.”

“By this point we’d realised the strength of the film’s title, and made a few tweaks: Ron Perlman instead of Oscar Isaac, more airbrushing. We were going for a more cultish, b-movie-ish feel, basically. Very similar to the last one in terms of direction and elements, but now it’s got a proper tagline now too – we always come up with a few, and I guess this was a way of telling a bit more of the story.”
